At Klein Law, it is our hope that we are changing the stigma of the "uncaring lawyer," for we affirm that we are not only called to be "good lawyers” and "Officers of the Court," but are aware that people are entrusting themselves, their affairs and their lives to us.
Our competence arises out of our restricting our practice in the area of family law, which has been recognized not only by our colleagues within our profession, but by our clients and judiciary.
Creating a good lawyer-client relationship is extremely important to us. A good rapport with clients makes it easier for them to handle the emotional strain of family law issues and also produces better results.
We want to be fair and "upfront" with our fees and therefor, at the initial interview, each client reviews our Contract for Legal Services, which sets out our fees, costs to be incurred and defines our "legal" relationship in regards to our being officially retained.
Our role as lawyers is:
• to advise the client
how the law would apply to the case
• to negotiate a settlement to the
extent possible
• to protect the rights of a client
• to advocate where parties cannot settle
Although our clients' interests are always paramount, we choose at all times to act in an ethical and fair manner in all dealings with "the other side." Although it is our client who gives us instructions as to the "ends" to achieve, it is the lawyer who decides how the case is "managed."
(With the exception of abuse cases), our practice is more "meditative" and "collaborative" rather than "litigious." What we mean is, we practice law in such a way as to promote "out-of-court" settlements, to the extent possible. However, that does not mean that we are not ascertive in protecting our client's rights. On the other hand, if a client is "out for blood," we tell him/her that he/she is in the wrong place.
At Klein Law, the KEY is not JUST "good legal advice," but to have a heart for people. Our desire is to build lasting relationships with our clients through expert counsel and superior customer service.
Finally ... We're not perfect! We are lawyers, but we are also people, trying to make a difference. At times, we mistakes, but we are open to hear and acknowledge this and be open to change.
